Shoppers are willing to pay more money for an iPhone with a larger screen, new research has found
Consumers are willing to pay more money for an iPhone with a larger screen, according to new research.
Half of 4,000 shoppers looking to upgrade their phone in the next three months said they were inclined to purchase an iPhone. Of these, a quarter said they were willing to pay $100 (£58) for their new iPhone to have a 5.5-inch screen, according to research conducted by RBC Capital Markets.
The findings come as two differing sizes of the next iPhone - at 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches respectively, are rumoured to have gone into production. The current iPhone 5s sports a 4-inch display.
Alleged difficulties in the production of the larger-screened model mean the 4.7-inch version is likely to be released first, expected to be around the early autumn.
RBC claims a larger-screened phone could drive iPhone sales by up to 20 per cent. An additional 33 per cent of respondents said improved battery life would be a driving force in their purchasing an iPhone, compared to 23 per cent's desire for a larger display.
